Retail taught me how marketing operates
BabySquare was my first job in Canada, and I progressed from Marketing Coordinator to Marketing Manager. Retail taught me to work from annual and quarterly plans while responding to the questions, inventory changes, vendor requirements, and sales needs that arrived each day. The website, e-commerce, and physical stores all affected one another. Working in Greater Vancouver also meant paying attention to how customer needs, shopping occasions, and channels could differ across communities. That was where many of my working habits formed: check the details, respect the rules around the work, and turn recurring tasks into processes other people can actually use.
